Collection Care Services provides personalized consultation and educational support for the storage and transportation of fine art and cultural heritage objects. Our work begins with a simple premise: every collection is different, and thoughtful care starts with understanding the specific needs of each object, team, and environment.

Founded by Meg Colbert, Collection Care Services grew out of decades of hands-on experience working with museums, libraries, archives, galleries, and fine art service providers. Throughout that work, it became clear that many challenges in collections care stem not from lack of effort, but from a lack of clear, accessible guidance that connects standards and best practices to day-to-day workflows.

Today, Collection Care Services helps organizations bridge that gap. We create custom learning materials tailored to a client’s specific workflows and products, including illustrated how-to guides, workflow overviews, packing plans, diagrams, and research-based reports. We also offer remote trainings, workshops, and presentations designed for preparators, collection managers, and arts professionals at all levels of experience.

Whether supporting a single project or developing resources for long-term use, our goal is to provide practical tools that help teams work with confidence, consistency, and care. By translating complex standards into clear, usable guidance, we help organizations meet a high level of stewardship while respecting the realities of their work on the ground.
Meg Colbert
With a career in art services that began in 1997, Colbert has packed art and designed solutions in a diverse range of settings, including museums, galleries, artist's studios, auction houses, and private collections.

Her academic credentials include a Master of Arts degree in Art History from Hunter College and a Master of Library and Information Science degree from SUNY University at Buffalo. Her contributions to the field have been recognized through her participation as a presenter at several Annual Meetings of the American Institute of Conservation, as well as at the ARCS Conference, where she has shared her expertise on the subject of packing and crating.
